Cardiff City FC
The Brief
We were approached by Lee (Head of Fitness & Conditioning) at Cardiff City F.C. who had a vision to overhaul their tired, semi-domestic training ground kitchen into a servery befitting of a top football club.
Their existing kitchen lacked any sense of flow, and a miss-match of various equipment they had accumulated over the years made offering the varied menu, tailored to the players fitness regimes, challenging to provide.
With the players going into the off-season period, there was only a short time frame to make their dream a reality. With the club’s recent relegation to the Championship, it was important that when the players returned from their summer break, they came back to a fresh environment; providing a morale boost ahead of the start of the new season.
The Result
With walnut effect laminate fronts and white Corian worktops, their new servery counter is both stunning and easy to maintain. The flow has been drastically improved, with separate stations for ‘build and repair’, ‘fuel’ and ‘protect’ as well as a soup well, salad bar and a desserts section. Alcoves within the counter complete with LED down lights provide a great storage solution, as well as adding an extra wow factor.
There is now a clearly defined kitchen and servery space so there’s no cross over between the kitchen staff and the players. Additional Precision refrigeration provides greater storage capacity for the chefs and the bespoke stainless-steel wall cupboards work perfectly for dry food storage, where space was at a minimum. A new Maidaid Evolution dishwasher, as well as a re-imagined plate clearing and dishwashing area, has eased the process for both the players and the kitchen staff.
A Williams multideck display refrigerator provides storage for drinks and grab and go items.
