Ludo Lounge
The Brief
We were excited when we got the call from Loungers LTD to work on one of their commercial restaurants refits. This time we travelled to the lively coastal town of Bournemouth—known for its Victorian architecture, beaches, nightlife, as well as its festivals and events. Our task was to transform a former Woolworths’ into an exciting new restaurant for the area.
The Result
In terms of the bar and restaurant refurbishment for the venue—the lucky customer who walks in from the street, in through the inviting front entrance, is greeted by the chic and comfortable open plan space that has become a familiar characteristic of Loungers restaurants—with tasteful decking, old club chairs, vintage lamps, book shelves, curious old fashioned photographs, wall mounted mirrors and more. The restaurant has 130 covers indoors and 80 outside—the latter being taken up by its outstanding first floor terrace. The terrace makes for a wonderful sun-trap during the summer, so this restaurant is a must-visit for lovers of alfresco dining.
As an added interesting fact, the venue’s back-bar counter, is made from the building’s original hardwood Woolworth’s sign and a Woolworth’s light box can be found on the first floor terrace. The terrace was actually constructed by removing the middle third of the first floor roof.
Our knowledge of commercial kitchens and commercial kitchen design was once again put to great use. We provided reliable high quality commercial kitchen equipment to match the demands of the venue: consisting of a Blue Seal suite, a mirror finish 1200mm griddle, a 6 burner range, a salamander, twin fryers, Foster refrigeration, Meiko glass-washing, a Manitowoc icemaker and more.
